The Party of Socialists (PSRM), the “Our Party” (PPPN), the European People’s Party (PPEM) and their leaders enjoy the greatest confidence among the Moldovan people. If legislative elections were held next Sunday, five parties would enter Parliament, shows a survey carried out by the Association of Sociologists and Demographers of Moldova, IPN reports.

According to the survey, the PSRM, PPPN, PPEM, the Democratic Party and a party formed based on the Civic Platform “Dignity and Truth” would enter Parliament. “The conclusion is that if no radical socioeconomic changes take place in Moldova and the current trends in the political life persist, with a Government not being formed, the pro-European parties will hold only 40% of the seats in Parliament as a result of the next elections,” said the Association’s head Victor Mocanu.

Of these five parties, the PSRM will obtain most of the votes, followed by the PPPN. If direct presidential elections were held next Sunday, 17% of those who named a candidate would vote for Renato Usatyi, while 15% for Igor Dodon. However, over 47% of those interviewed said they have confidence in no one.

66% of those polled would like parliamentary elections to be held in 2016. If parliamentary elections were held next Sunday, 45% of those polled are sure that they will take part in them, 34% said they will probably take part, while 6% are sure that they will not take part.

Over 50% of the respondents consider the socioeconomic situation in the country is now tense owing to the protests mounted in Chisinau. In this connection, over 56% of those interviewed said they would like the Civic Platform “Dignity and Truth” to become a political party.

As regards the street disorder, almost 44% of those surveyed consider the situation of April 7, 2009 could repeat.

The surveyed covered a sample of 1,187 respondents from 75 communities.
