The Party of Socialists (PSRM) considers the introduction of an ideological amendment in the Constitution is contrary to the fundamental principles, such as the right to choose, and this will further worsen the situation in the country where society is already divided, the Socialist parliamentary group said in a statement issued on October 10. According to the group, they will not support such amendments and will not vote them in Parliament, IPN reports.
The Socialists noted the Constitution should reflect the interests of all the people, not of a party or particular politicians. They fully support President Igor Dodon’s position as to the pursuing of a balanced foreign policy of the state and the inadmissibility of taking such decisions without the people’s participation.
“Such subjects are discussed without being coordinated with the people, practically before the parliamentary elections after which many of the representatives of the parliamentary majority will form part of the political archive,” says the statement.
On October 9, President Igor Dodon said the enshrining of the European integration course in the Constitution is to the detriment of the balance in society and he will no way promulgate such a law.
