PSRM will challenge in CC nomination of Igor Grosu and will propose another candidate tomorrow

The Party of Socialists will challenge in the Constitutional Court the procedure for fielding the PAS leader Igor Grosu for premiership. “We consider particular constitutional procedures were violated,” Socialist MP Vlad Batrîncea stated in a news conference. According to him, the Socialists will propose another professional candidate for premiership on behalf of the parliamentary majority, who will cope with the crisis, IPN reports.

According to the MP, the candidate is an experienced person who knows very well how a crisis should be managed, what economic-financial stability means and will be a member of the team that will cope with pressure, no matter where this comes from. The person held important posts in the state, managed important process, has experience in the management of crisis. The PSRM has a number of candidates for Prime Minister. The Socialist leader is also a suitable candidate for Prime Minister, but he will not be proposed at this stage.

The PSRM considers the steps taken on March 16 represent a blow to their sincere intentions to reach a consensus and to ensure stability in Moldova. Even so, they are ready to have a dialogue in legal conditions. In the discussions held with the President yesterday, the fielding of Igor Grosu for Prime Minister wasn’t discussed. “If this scenario wasn’t discussed yesterday and if there is the noble intention to work out an anti-crisis plan, a roadmap, Missis President Sandu should think once again and rather well if this nomination was reasonable,” stated Vlad Batrîncea.

The MP also said that enormous pressure “in the style of Plahotniuc” was exerted on Mariana Durleșteanu so as to make her withdraw her candidacy. They will provide details later.

Mariana Durleșteanu, the candidate for Prime Minister proposed by the formalized parliamentary majority, on March 16 announced her withdrawal. Later, President Maia Sandu said she took note of Mariana Durleșteanu’s decision to withdraw her candidacy for premiership. As there is no candidate who would be supported by a formal majority now, she decided to field Igor Grosu, the president of the Party of Action and Solidary, for Prime Ministe. She requested Igor Grosu to prepare the government program and to form a team with which he will go to Parliament.
