PSRM urges calmness and unity in connection with explosions in Tiraspol

The Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova (PSRM) call on society to remain calm and united, while the political forces to refrain from speculations and unfounded accusations about “armed provocations in the Transnistrian region”.

“We underline the vital importance of keeping peace in the Republic of Moldova and of avoiding the involvement of the country and its citizens into a war. The PSRM repeatedly emphasized that the Republic of Moldova should keep its constitutional status of neutrality, while the administration in Chisinau and the whole political class should exclude any kind of provocative actions that can have a catastrophic result for the country,” the PSRM said in a press release that is quoted by IPN.  

The Party of Socialists underlined the necessity of al the state institutions showing maximum mobilization so as to efficiently control border crossings and the situation all over the Republic of Moldova. The party also calls on the citizens to show maximum vigilance and not to allow to be provoked by destructive or ill-intentioned elements.

“We hope the external forces will give up the attempts to cause an armed conflict in the Republic of Moldova. We bank on the fact that the current administration in Chisinau realizes the major importance of keeping peace and quietness in the country and will not allow to be attracted into the game of other international players. Our people now need even more cohesion that depends also on the way in which the mass media in Moldova cover the events,” says the party’s statement.


A number of explosions occurred at the head office of the so-called Ministry of Security of the Transnistrian region in the evening of April 25. It was reportedly an attack with rocket-propelled grenade launchers in which no one was hurt. Two more blasts were reported in Mayak village of Grigoriopol district in the morning of April 26. According to press reports, explosions also occurred in Parcani, 13 km from the border with Ukraine, on the Transnistrian segment. The administration of the Transnistrian region issued a red alert for terrorism.
