The Socialist parliamentary group propose creating a special parliamentary commission for drafting bills on the constitution reform. MP Vasile Bolea in a press briefing said the state needs to have the legislation in the constitutional sphere reviewed. “We could also propose a bill to amend the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova,” said the MP, who is one of the authors of the initiative, IPN reports.
The MP noted the constitutional reform will be aimed at amending the legislation so as to end the political stalemate in the relations between the President, Government and Parliament and to combat party switching. They could also examine the proposals formulated by ex-President Igor Dodon, the leader of the PSRM, concerning the reduction in the number of MPs and the switchover to the presidential system as the form of government.
In a TV program earlier, Igor Dodon said the constitutional reform launched during his tenure as President should be brought to an end. The Socialist MPs will suggest creating such a commission after President Maia Sandu ordered to dissolve the constitutional reform commission constituted by Igor Dodon’s presidential decree in the summer of 2020.
