PSRM starts preparations for parliamentary elections

The Party of Socialists (PSRM) begins the preparations for the legislative elections. In the meeting of the party’s National Council on June 16, there was adopted a decision on the organization of primaries among the local organizations of the PSRM so as to choose candidates for single-member constituencies for the upcoming parliamentary elections, IPN reports.

The National Council’s meeting involved the President of Moldova Igor Dodon, who is the informal leader of the PSRM. President Dodon said the party should focus on the quality of candidates. “This year’s parliamentary elections will be the most important ones in the history of our country because they will decide the further existence of the Republic of Moldova as a unitary and independent state,” said Igor Dodon.

The National Council decided to convoke the 16th Extraordinary Congress of the PSRM in the immediate period. This will approve the political program for the next elections. The date and place of the Congress will be set by the party’s Political Executive Committee.

President Dodon expressed his conviction that the Party of Socialists will be making every effort to win a victory in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
