PSRM seeks dismissal of all members of Constitutional Court

The Party of Socialists (PSRM) demands that all the members of the Constitutional Court should be dismissed because, by its decisions, the Court usurps the power in the state. The reaction comes after the Constitutional Court on December 29 ruled that the head of state’s decree to nominate Ion Sturza for premiership is constitutional, IPN reports.

On December 30, the leader of the PSRM Igor Dodon told a news conference that the Socialists condemn the December 29 decision of the Court. According to him, the PSRM drafted a bill on the dismissal of the members of the Constitutional Court. Under the bill, this would happen on the initiative of at least 20 MPs, while the decision would be taken by a majority of votes of MP.

Igor Dodon also said that on January 4, 2016, the Socialist lawmakers will not take part in the special sitting of Parliament, where candidate Ion Sturza will ask for the MPs’ vote of confidence, because most of these will be in the Victory Town where there were pitched protesters’ tents.
