PSRM says CC judgment is a politicized, anti-national and pro-oligarchic decision

The Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova (PSRM) says the Constitutional Court’s judgment by which the €200 million lending agreement between Moldova and Russia was declared unconstitutional is a politicized, anti-national and pro-oligarchic decision. The ruling party stated its position in a press release issued in the evening of May 7, shortly after the CC pronounced on the issue, IPN reports.

“The Constitutional Court’s decision to annul the €200 million Russian loan is a confirmation of the fact that this institution was captured by political-oligarchic interests. It is very regrettable that the Court’s judges abided not by the constitutional provisions and the interests of the country’s citizens, but by narrow political interests behind which there are oligarchs who wait to regain control over the country,” stated the PSRM.

According to the party, the country’s citizens suffer as a result of the given decision as they need money to be helped to overcome the crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic. “Moldova lost today. Democracy and the rule of law lost. Those who captured again the Constitutional Court and generated this anti-national decision, which is a serious precedent for the future international agreements that can be easily annulled by obscure interests through the agency of the Court, should assume overall responsibility”.

The PSRM assures that it “will continue to make effort to find solutions, together with the Government and President Igor Dodon, so that the citizens receive the pensions and salaries and the social welfare on time and the businesses are supported so as to keep the jobs, to repair the roads and to light the streets.”
