The Chisinau councilors of the Party of Socialists (PSRM) ask immediately convening a meeting of the Chisinau Municipal Council on October 2, IPN reports.
Ion Ceban told a news conference that the meeting must be called without delay so as to discuss the problems faced in education and the issue of illegal constructions in Chisinau. He reiterated the necessity of introducing the institution of a moratorium on all the constructions and the creation of a commission of inquiry to examine the dubious constructions in the agenda.
According to the councilor, during eight years the local public authorities illegally sold buildings of nursery schools and adjoining land at a time when there are hundreds of children waiting to be admitted to nurseries. The public property was sold at fixed tender contests or by modifying earlier adopted decisions, changing the term of the contract from three to ten years. The purpose of dozens of plots was illegally modified, but the City Hall does not challenge these cases in court.
The Socialists demand that the heads and deputy heads of all the municipal divisions and enterprises and the functionaries who weren’t sleeted at a contest and those involved in fraudulent schemes should be dismissed. The meeting should also discuss aspects of public procurement, the rise in tariffs and other issues.
The councilors said that if the meeting is not held on October 2, in two weeks the PSRM will stage public consultations and will present documents proving a series of abuses committed by functionaries.
