The Party of Socialists (PSRM) prepares a legislative proposal to amend the Penal Code so as to introduce a new article concerning electoral offenses, IPN reports.
In a news conference, MP Vasile Bolea said the amendment proposal is formulated in connection with the problems highlighted by the Central Election Commission in its report. The new provisions prevent manipulations in the registers of voters, ballots, etc. The bill will also stipulate punishment for electoral violations committed by electoral functionaries.
“We want to make the members of electoral bodies more responsible as they can manipulate the voter rolls, can contribute to the so-called carousel when one or more ballots are taken out of the polling place. There were also cases when stamps “Voted” disappeared suddenly during voting or those technicians working on the computer committed manipulations in the register of voters. We consider there should be a special article in the Penal Code that would stipulate penalties for such violations,” stated Vasile Bolea.
Another initiative prepared by the PSRM is designed to eliminate the inequity in paying for water and sewerage. According to the MP, this refers to the difference in the volumes shown by the block meter and the individual meters of dwellers that the consumers have to pay. A working group was set up to draft such a legislative proposal. Discussions with representatives of the National Agency for Energy Regulation will be held before finalizing the bill.
