Members of the Party of Socialists (PSRM) gave a news conference where they presented the main accomplishments achieved by candidate for President Igor Dodon when this was minister of economy. Among the most important results, the Socialists enumerated the GDP growth of 7% and the 22% rise in salaries, IPN reports.
The Socialists also mentioned the almost 18% rise in pensions and the 18% increase in imports and exports. According to the members of the PSRM, in 2008 the external public debt represented 15% of the GDP, while in 2015 it represented 26%. Also, the foreign direct investment in 2008 totaled US$711 million, as opposed to 229 million in 2015.
The Socialists said almost 1,000 enterprises were created in the period when Igor Dodon served as minister of economy.
Speaking about the activity of Igor Dodon’s opponent Maia Sandu when this was minister of education, the Socialists said the number of education institutions decreased by about 200 and the number of teachers declined considerably, while scholarships were raised insignificantly. According to Ion Ceban, chairman of the Socialist group on the Chisinau Municipal Council, almost 10,000 teachers left the education system in 2011-2015.
