The deputy chairman of the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova (PSRM) Ion Ceban, who heads the Socialist group on the Chisinau Municipal Council, told a news conference that the pensions, salaries and benefits started to be paid with delay in some of the country’s districts, while the people cannot benefit from medical services based on the health policy. The Socialists consider the situation will get out of control because of the shortage of funds, IPN reports.
“We were informed about delays in paying pensions in eight districts of the country. The persons working in the social sphere, primarily the health and education sectors, also receive their pays with delay. The heating season started, but the mechanism for compensating the heating costs for the most disfavored groups of people remains indefinite. More than 1.2 million people risk facing serious problems. This refers mainly to pensioners, invalids and families with many children,” stated Ceban.
The Socialists think the compensations should be provided with the money earned by the National Bank from selling foreign currency at higher prices than the purchase price. Early elections should be held so as to overcome the current situation.
