The Party of Socialists (PSRM) will run in the elections in Hâncești because it is the largest party of the country. The Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) fielded its own candidate for MP in these elections because it has the biggest chances of winning, while the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” (PPPDA) said these elections are symbolical in connection with this autumn’s presidential elections. Opinions on the issue were stated by MPs of the three parties, Grigore Novac, Sergiu Litvineneco and Alexandru Slusari, IPN reports.
“For us, each election is important. Indeed, there is only one seat of MP, but, as the largest party in Moldova, we must definitely take part,” Grigore Novac stated in the talk show “Natalia Morari’s Politics” on TV8 channel.
Sergiu Litvinenco said the PAS takes an active part in the election campaign in Hâncești.
“We are campaigning and things go well. The situation is not perfect as there are two candidates with better chances on the right. The votes could be dispersed and the Socialists could win, but the PAS candidate has more chances. We became involved and go to each village and discuss with the people,” noted the MP.
PPPDA vice president Alexandru Slusari said the elections that will take place in single-member constituency Hâncești on March 15 will not change the situation in Parliament, but the elections there are symbolical.
“Mathematically, a seat of MP does not change the situation dramatically, but symbolically and psychologically, these elections are important and will represent a rehearsal for the presidential elections,” stated the MP.
Asked why the parties of the center-right didn’t carry out an internal survey to identify a common candidate, Alexandru Slusari said this should have been conducted two-three weeks before February 29. “There is no use holding such an exercise on the last 100 meters,” he stated.
