The Party of Socialists (PSRM) reiterates its readiness to have a dialogue and says that they will contact today all the parliamentary groups and will invite them to discussions. According to the Socialists, the extension of the period during which Moldova will be in a fully uncertain situation will only worsen people’s problems amid a new wave of the COVID-19 pandemic that seriously hits the country.
“The populist slogans and nice words with an electoral undertone that are pronounced with emphasis in speeches before TV cameras do not help solve people’s problems. It is well known that the populism in periods of crisis only amplify the blows received by the ordinary people about whom the politician, primarily the state officials, should think the first. But the people see that the President focuses exclusively on narrow party interests,” the PSRM says in a press release.
The party requests President Maia Sandu to immediately stop the attacks on the Constitutional Court over the judgment passed on February 23 and the actions to undermine the rule of law and to usurp the state power.
The Constitutional Court declared unconstitutional President Maia Sandu’s decree by which Natalia Gavrilița was nominated for premiership the second time, after partially accepting a challenge filed by Socialist MPs. Under the law, the President must initiate new consultations with the parliamentary groups so as to identify a candidate for Prime Minister. But President Sandu said the people are the ones who hold power in the state and can solve the created situation. She noted that at snap elections or at referendum, the citizens will decide their and the country’s future.
