PSRM invites NOW to discussions

The leaders of the electoral bloc NOW DA PAS are expected to come to the head office of the Party of Socialists (PSRM) on March 12 at 3pm to discuss the establishment of political parliamentary cooperation relations. The invitation was made by the PSRM’s secretary for ideology Ion Ceban in a press briefing held on March 11 after the meeting of the party’s Political Executive Committee, IPN reports.

According to Ion Ceban, the party he represents does not want to induce snap elections even if it is ready to cope with eventual elections. The PSRM is ready to examine the formation of an eventual parliamentary majority with MPs who will guarantee Moldova’s statehood and neutrality and the country’s reunification and who are for a balanced foreign policy by strengthening the partnership with the Russian Federation and through mutually advantageous cooperation relations with the EU, the U.S. and other states.

Ion Ceban noted that any political arrangement between NOW and the PDM will be nothing else but the continuation of the disastrous alliances formed after 2009. The future parliamentary majority should be formed around the PSRM as this is the most representative party. “We cooperated with politicians from this bloc earlier and together organized protests against the government and want to see if we can identify other things we have in common,” he stated.

The PSRM won 35 seats of MP in the February 24 parliamentary elections, while the bloc NOW - 26 seats.
