PSRM: Early elections will ensure better living conditions for Moldovans

The Party of Socialists (PSRM) is the main promoter of the interests of working people of the Republic of Moldova. It criticizes the social policy pursued by the current government and calls for early elections. These were the main messages transmitted by heavyweights of the PSRM in the events staged by the party on the occasion of the Labor Day or International Workers’ Day in Chisinau on May 1. After marching in two columns, from the Academy of Sciences and the Circus, the participants came together for a common demonstration in the square of the National Opera House, IPN reports.

The events involved the President of Moldova Igor Dodon, ex-leader of the PSRM, and three Russian MPs, among whom boxer Nikolai Valuev.

In the demonstration, the current leader of the PSRM Zinaida Grecheanyi said the Labor Day continues to be a day of the struggle for social justice. “The Party of Socialists was and will remain in the vanguard of the struggle for the economic, political and social rights of each citizen of our country. We are those who daily promote the interests of our citizens. We are against the rise in retirement age, in the tariffs of public utilities, in drug prices and medical services. We plead for the rise in pensions and social welfare. And our struggle against social genocide will continue,” she stated.

President Dodon announced before the crowed that he signed a decree to confer state awards on a group of people from different areas of activity for long and irreproachable activity, merits before the state and special accomplishments in professional activity. He said he will do this each year until he holds the office of President of the Republic of Moldova.

Socialist councilor on the Chisinau Council Ion Ceban said the state of affairs in the Republic of Moldova is deplorable and this situation can be overcome only by removing the current regime. “We must make every effort for this to happen. We want early legislative elections as these will ensure the citizens of this country live safely and much better,” he stated.

Carolina Lipskaya, who heads the youth wing of the PSRM, said the current Government does not care about the young generation. The young specialists do not have jobs, while the salaries of working young people are paltry. This is the reason why they go abroad to work.

Labor Day on May 1 started to be celebrated in memory of the victims of the Chicago general strike of 1889. In time, this started to be marked as the spring and labor day, especially in the former USSR.
