The Party of Socialists (PSRM) submitted a challenge to the Constitutional Court whereby it asks the Court to analyze the constitutionality of the procedure for examining no-confidence motions in Parliament. The party’s leader Igor Dodon said the sitting of Parliament where the motion was to be debated was illegal, IPN reports.
According to the Socialist leader, the sitting was held with serious violations of the legislative body’s regulations and of the Constitution. “The procedure for preparing the sitting and including the motion in the agenda wasn’t respected. There was neither the report nor the meeting of the legal commission. We have serious doubts about the legality of the meeting of the Sanding Bureau. Usually, the Parliament sittings are held on Thursday and Friday, not on Monday,” stated Igor Dodon.
“Thus, we consider that these seven laws are illegal both in terms of concept and of the procedure for examining the no-confidence motion. We consider that they cannot take effect and cannot be implemented,” stated Igor Dodon.
The parliamentary alliance didn’t come to the October 3 sitting of Parliament where the no-confidence motion submitted by the Socialist, Communist and Liberal-Democratic MPs was to be debated. Thus, in the absence of the quorum, the motion failed and the draft laws for which the Filip Government assumed responsibility were considered adopted. President Nicolae Timofti promulgated then today, October 4.
