The faction of the Party of Socialists (PSRM) requests convening an extraordinary meeting of the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC), IPN reports. The faction’s head Ion Ceban told a news conference that there are a number of acute problems that cannot be ignored until September 3, when an ordinary meeting will be held.
“The top issue is the admission to nursery schools in the municipality of Chisinau because it is a disaster there. There are thousands of children who are waiting to be admitted there, but their parents are told to pay bribe. The most serious problem is related to the enrollment of children aged two and three. The parents cannot enroll their children to the kindergarten located near their house because children from all over the country were admitted there. We want a transparent analysis and we must also take into account the need to extend the housing sector and to build new nursery schools,” said the head of the Socialist faction.
A solution proposed by the Socialists is to impose a one-month moratorium on all the constructions. “There are now tens of problematic constructions in the municipality of Chisinau. They erect buildings where they violate absolutely all the norms and the people do not know what’s going on. A commission of inquiry should be set up to determine who issued the construction authorization and how many of these constructions are legal,” stated Ion Ceban.
Another key problem, in the opinion of the Socialists, is the rise in tariffs. “In winter the people will be unable to pay the bills. The public utility asked raising the water charges by 40%. The mayor said only a 10% increase will be accepted. But an audit in this regard is needed. “Termoelectrica” asked for a 50% rise in heat charges. If now the heat costs about 1,000 lei per gigacalorie, in winter it will cost 1,500 lei. The situation is serious. We suggest reviewing the given requests and blocking the rises, auditing the companies and identifying a formula for paying compensations to pensioners and socially deprived persons,” said the councilor.
The Socialists propose that the faction leaders should meet in the middle of next week to decide to convoke the CMC at the end of next week or in a week, but as soon as possible.
