PSRM criticizes decisions by some parties to boycott referendum to dismiss mayor

The Party of Socialists (PSRM) disapproves of the decisions by some of the center-right parties to influence inhabitants of Chisinau to boycott the November 19 referendum to remove Dorin Chirtoaca from the mayoralty of Chisinau. In a press statement issued on October 5, the Socialists say the calls not to take part in the plebiscite represent attempts to keep the state of uncertainty and chaos in the capital city, IPN reports.

According to the PSRM, Dorin Chirtoaca, since he took up his duties, has destroyed the good things that remained in Chisinau and now the capital of the Republic of Moldova became one of the ugliest in the world. “There is not only chaos in the capital city, but also uncertainty and those parties that urge to boycott the referendum to dismiss the mayor of Chisinau do nothing but indirectly plead for keeping the current state of affairs,” reads the statement.

The Socialists insist that Chisinau should be taken out of the crisis in which it has been for over 10 years and should be put back on the path of development. This can be achieved only if the incompetent and corrupt mayor is dismissed. “This thing is wanted by the largest part of the residents of the capital city with whom the PSRM is directly and permanently in touch. Pleading for keeping the chaos and uncertainty in the city is not only a crime, but also a direct insult at the inhabitants of Chisinau,” said the party.

The PSRM calls on the parties that decided to boycott the referendum to ponder over and realize the seriousness of the announced actions and positions.
