The Party of Socialists (PSRM) says it is ready to take decisive measures to protect the Constitution and the presidential administration by all legal means given that the Constitutional Court discredited itself completely by playing dirty games in the interests of particular political forces. In a statement, the party says it categorically condemns the attempt to usurp the state power made by the ruling alliance with the involvement of the CC members on October 17, IPN reports.
According to the Socialists, the October 17 decision taken by the CC will enable to name persons who are convenient for the Democratic Party as members of the Cabinet and to exclude the President of the Republic of Moldova from this process. “We are convinced that the Constitutional Court should ensure the observance of the constitutional norms as regards the fundamental principle of separation of powers in the state, ensuring the independence of the institutions of the power, pluralism and democracy. In reality, the CC facilitates the usurpation of the power by a political party,” reads the statement.
The PSRM considers the constitutional judges are politically biased as they defend and promote the interests of the ruling regime, which is also a serious violation of the constitutional norms. A serious precedent was set on October 17, when six persons, who are mostly citizens of another state, led by an ex-MP and citizen of Romania, discredited again the state institutions.
The Party of Socialists warns Moldova’s foreign partners, including the Venice Commission, that the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Moldova does not interpret the Constitution, but creates new norms, replacing largely the text of the fundamental law, which is abuse of authority.
The Socialists note that they aim to score a victory in the upcoming parliamentary elections and will then restore order in the state bodies, will change the current composition of the CC and will hold accountable the CC judges after their decisions are thoroughly analyzed. They intend to launch nationwide actions in support of the initiatives to broaden the powers of the President of the Republic of Moldova and to switch over to the presidential form of government in Moldova.
