PSRM calls on political parties not to use shooting event for political purposes

The Socialist Party of Moldova (PSRM) calls upon the political parties to preserve calmness in connection with the tragic shooting incident that happened at a trilateral peacekeeping post near Vadul lui Voda on January 1, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a statement issued by the party. The PSRM expresses its deep regret at the incident and offers its condolences to the grieving family. It describes the attempt by some of the ruling political parties to use this tragedy for political and electoral purposes as a non-Christian and offensive gesture to the relatives of the killed young man. The Socialists consider that all the circumstances of the incident should be examined thoroughly so as to identify those to blame and normalize the Moldovan-Russian relations. The PSRM asks the Government to present a concrete plan of measures that will prevent the repeat of similar cases in the future. The party invites all the political players to refrain from actions that can make the situation in the Security Zone and the region tenser. “We request paying increased attention to the negotiations with the new Transnistrian administration within the 5+2 format so as to identify solutions that would ease the lives of the people living on the banks of the Nistru,” reads the statement. On the morning of January 1, an 18-year-old man was killed by a member of the peacekeeping force in the Security Zone of the Transnistrian conflict while transiting a PKF checkpoint near Vadul lui Voda. Vadim Pisari from Pirita died in the hospital shortly after he was operated.
