PSRM asks CC to interpret state’s obligation to ensure everyone’s right to decent living

The MPs of the Party of Socialists requested the Constitutional Court to interpret the supreme law’s provisions saying that the state is obliged to ensure decent living conditions for all the citizens, IPN reports.

The Socialists consider the state, represented by the current government, violates the citizens’ right to assistance and social protection because, as a result of the antisocial policies and galloping rise in prices, the costs incurred by a large part of the population exceed their ordinary incomes. The state should not allow the minimum guaranteed salary to be lower than the minimum consumer basket.

The High Court is asked to say if the guaranteeing by the state of a minimum pension or a minimum salary lower than the minimum consumer basket is in the spirit of the Constitution.

The MPs also ask to explain if the state is obliged or not to take urgent economic measures if the cumulative taxes and tariffs imposed on the citizens exceeds the monthly incomes of these.
