After announcing their intention to stage a protest in the square before the Parliament Building on September 27, the Party of Socialists (PSRM) and the Political Party “Our Party” changed their plans. As they could not reach a compromise with the members of the Civic Platform “Dignity and Truth”, the two parties decided to relocate the place of the protest to the square before the Ministry of Agriculture and before the Presidential Office. A preliminary notification to this effect was filed to the Chisinau City Hall, IPN reports.
In a working meeting at the City Hall, the representatives of the two parties said that this Sunday the protesters will move in two columns that will meet in the center of Chisinau and will then go along Stefan cel Mare Blvd to the Ministry and the Presidential Office. A decision about the exact itinerary hasn’t been yet taken, but the police asked avoiding the Great National Assembly Square so as to prevent altercations with the representatives of the Platform “Dignity and Truth”. The sides will meet again on September 25 to agree the route.
Members of the PSRM and PPPN submitted a preliminary application asking authorizing a protest in the square before the Parliament Building on September 27 to the Chisinau City Hall. But the Platform “Dignity and Truth” filed a similar application earlier. Given that an agreement as to the holding of the protests wasn’t reached and following an application from the State Guard and Protection Service, which requested not authorizing demonstrations on that place because the legislation on the protection of the territory adjoining the Parliament Building is violated, the local authorities decided to file a lawsuit. The court will thus pass judgment as to the staging of protests in that square.
