Sympathizers and members of the Party of Socialists of Moldova (PSRM) mounted a march from the center of Chisinau to the Memorial Complex “Eternity”, where they laid flowers on the occasion of the 69th anniversary of the victory over fascism. A brass band went in front of the demonstrators, singing Soviet songs, while the participants carried a Saint George Ribbon. Columns of sympathizers and members of the Communist Party (PCRM) also went to the memorial complex from central Chisinau, chanting “Hurrah” and “Victory”, IPN reports.
The leader of the PSRM Igor Dodon said that despite the time that passed, the memory of this great event does not fade away. “The day of May 9 for us is a day of memory, tolerance and human attitude towards each other. We hope the mankind will convince itself that welfare and prosperity cannot exist in a world shattered by wars and terrorism, that peace and understanding ensure peace and welfare,” he stated.
For his part, the leader of the PCRM Vladimir Voronin said the staged match is a march of the respect for those who defended our country. “It is a march for those who didn’t hesitate to sacrifice their lives for our wellbeing, for our country, for peace and for a better life,” he said.
May 9 is marked as the day of peace and unity all over the European continent.
