PSRM and PAS have biggest chances of entering Parliament, poll

If parliamentary elections were held next Sunday, the Party of Socialists (PSRM) would gain 52.2% of the vote and would be followed by the Party “Action and Solidary” (PAS) with 28.9% of the ballot, shows an opinion poll conducted by the Public Opinion Fund, IPN reports.

Also, 33.3% of the respondents said they would no way vote for the Democratic Party, 22.6% for the Liberal Party, while 10.5% for the PSRM.

The poll shows President Igor Dodon is fully trusted by 29% of those surveyed, while the PAS leader Maia Sandu by 16%. The Liberal leader Mihai Ghimpu is trusted by only 1% of the respondents, while the Democratic leader Vlad Plahotniuc by 2%.

Some 56% of those surveyed said they do not agree with the steps taken by the Head of State and only 19% of the respondents said they are satisfied with the Parliament’s work.

Asked how they would vote in a possible referendum on Moldova’s entry into NATO, 65% of those interviewed said they would vote against, while 21% said they would vote for. If a referendum on Moldova’s union with Romania was held next Sunday, 70% would vote against, while 23% would vote for. The percentage of supporters is by 1% higher than last year.

The poll was commissioned by the company “Poliexpert” and covered a sample of 1,789 persons. It was carried out between May 26 and June 5, 2017.
