PSRM accuses state bodies of involvement in alleged kidnapping of Mykola Chaus

Socialist MPs Adrian Lebedinschi and Grigore Novac, who form part of the parliamentary commission of inquiry into the circumstances of the alleged kidnaping of ex-Ukrainian judge Mykola Chaus, seek the dismissal of the Security and Intelligence Service’s director for the reason that he tried to direct the investigation to a wrong path. In a news conference, the MPs said that after questioning employees of state institutions, including the SIS director, the Commission ascertained the involvement of these into the alleged offense, IPN reports.

Grigore Novac said a functionary of Parliament allowed leaks about the secret investigation. The name of the person and the way in which this was done are known, but cannot be made public. “We determined that the traces of this offense lead to the presidential institution where we could not find openness and cooperation, even if the commission made multiple requests,” stated Grigore Novac.

Adrian Lebedinschi noted that several groups of representatives of intelligence services of other countries work in Moldova and follow public functionaries, MPs and employees of other state bodies. “We will make approaches to the Prosecutor General’s Office and other national and international law enforcement agencies so that they examine the activity of the SIS, which allows the citizens of the Republic of Moldova to be followed by foreign intelligence services,” stated the MP.

Adrian Lebedinschi reiterated that given the aforementioned, the SIS director should be dismissed on grounds of no-confidence.

The Socialist MPs also said that they possess information of public interest about the case of Mykola Chaus, but this is classified for now.
