PSDE candidate for mayor of Chisinau promises to build national football arena

The aspirant for the mayoralty of Chisinau of the European Social Democratic Party (PSDE) Vadim Brînzaniuc promises that if he is elected mayor, he will build a national football arena with a sports complex that will meet the FIFA standards close to the Chisinau Circus, IPN reports.

According to Vadimn Brînzaniuc, the building of a national arena is linked to the identity of the people who live in the municipality of Chisinau. In 2006, the authorities promised to build an arena, but nothing has been done during 17 years.

The candidate noted that such cities as Odessa, Vinitsa, Chernovtsy (Ukraine), Suceava and Piatra Neamț (Romania) have sports grounds that meet the international standards, while in Chisinau this issue hasn’t been at least raised. Immediately after he is elected mayor, he will initiate the designing of the technical documentation and feasibility studies to launch the construction works.

“For me, it is a shame to go to the stadium in Tiraspol to see a match of the national football team of the Republic of Moldova there. I think thousands of inhabitants of the municipality of Chisinau have such a feeling,” noted the contender.

Vadimn Brînzaniuc noted that at least €25 million is needed to build such a facility and the money can be identified in the local budget or can be provided by partners from Romania or by international financial organizations.
