“The Democratic Party (PDM) is dissatisfied not with the solution itself, but with the fact that the Social-Democrats were the first to propose it,” Iurie Bolboceanu, the chairman of the National Council of the Social Democratic Party (PSD), told a news conference on March 25. He referred to the PDM’s application to the Central Election Commission (CEC) asking that the PSD is removed from the electoral race, filed after the latter presented its proposal for solving the Transnistrian dispute, Info-Prim Neo reports. “It was expected that the other political parties would attack the PSD after we made our settlement plan public. I wasn’t surprised that the PDM was the first because they level accusations at the PSD every week,” said Ivan Banari, candidate on behalf of the PSD. “The fact that it was Oazu Nantoi that made accusations against the PSD about the violation of the Constituent is a normal reaction: the problem might be solved and it remained without its toy so its reaction was expected,” the MP said. The PSD suggested leasing out Transnistria to Russia for 30 years. The PDM demanded that the CEC withdrew the Social Democratic Party from the electoral race, saying that the PSD’s proposals are anticonstitutional.
