The Social Democratic Party (PSD) proposes creating independent trade unions that will defend the rights of the unemployed. “The PSD is ready to provide logistic support and legal advice to the initiative groups,” the party's secretary general Sergiu Corobceanu said in a news conference on June 14, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. The independent trade unions will promote the interests of the unemployed, invalids, work veterans and war veterans, pensioners, students and employees who have salaries lower than the minimum subsistence level (1,338 lei). The PSD is disposed to provide offices and modern equipment for the local organizations of these trade unions. Social-Democrat councilor in Dubasari Roman Emilianov said the authorities should back this project as the people in rural areas do not have jobs. “We call on the governmental institutions to support us in our initiatives,” he said. The PSD will make sure that trade unions' demands to the authorities will be satisfied, representatives of the party said.
