The Social Democratic Party (PSD) accuses the Communist Party (PCRM) of terrorizing the economic entities from all over the country by inspections and fines. “The 54 state inspection bodies launched an unprecedented campaign to harass and ‘cudgel’ the private, small and medium-sized entrepreneurs,” the party’s president Dumitru Braghis said at a news conference on May 21. The inspections usually end with fines and confiscation of goods. A sum of 70 million lei is planned to be collected into the budge through such inspections, Dumitru Braghis said. He added that this way the economic entities are hindered in their activity and they have to cut the number of jobs, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the PSD leader, the world crisis seriously affected the most important sectors of the economy, which suffered considerable declines in the first half of this year, compared with the corresponding period last year. The volume of transported freight fell by 64.4%, the industry saw a 24.2% decline, while retail trade decreased by 5.6%. ”The official statistics show that the industrial production volume over January-March this year dropped by 24.2%, exports – by 19.1%, while imports – by 27.3% compared with the same period last year. Over 44 jobs had been cut during the last few months. The volume of remittances from Moldovans that work abroad in February this year fell by 21.3% from last February,” Dumitru Braghis said. The PSD calls on the present government to stop using police methods in the fiscal policy, create normal conditions for lending to small and medium-sized businesses, build a favorable investment climate and create new workplaces.
