PSD calls on population to protest against rise in maintenance costs
The Social-Democrat Party (PSD) of Moldova will stage a protest against the rise in maintenance costs on Saturday, November 12 and invites the pensioners, students and families on low incomes to join in. It urged the people to bring the bills that they cannot pay with them so that the party transmits them to Government officials.
“Any person who is in a difficult situation can take part in the protest. Over two years and a half, since the Alliance for European Integration came to power, we witnessed only rises in the heat, gas and water tariffs and in the prices of the essential food products and drugs. At the same time, the pensions, salaries and allowances remained at the same level,” PSD secretary general Sergiu Coropceanu has told Info-Prim Neo, explaining the reasons for the protest.
According to the Social-Democrat, the idea of mounting the protest arouse after they received numerous complaints from people about the situation in the country. The PSD secretary said the Government should bear responsibility if it cannot ensure the people with sufficient incomes so that they are able to pay the bills. The protest’s slogan is: “If you don’t pay, we will also not pay”.
Similar protests will take place Saturday in other towns of the country, where there will be collected bills from protesters and brought to Chisinau to be passed on to the Government, said Sergiu Coropceanu.
