PSD and UCM may go together in snap elections
The Social Democratic Party (PSD) and the Centrist Union from Moldova (UCM) may go with a single list in the early elections set for July 29. The leaders of those two parties said they would soon announce a decision. So far, they are still negotiating, Info-Prim Neo reports.
PSD leader Dumitru Braghis has told this news agency that on June 23, in the evening, those two parties discussed about going together in the elections. “We have not made a decision yet. We'll see. We conduct talks with Moldova Unita, too,” said Dumitru Braghis. When asked if he sees himself heading the list, the PSD leader has answered they do not talk about his position now.
At a news conference, Mihai Petrache, the UCM's deputy president, had said he had talks with the PSD and the PDM “till the Lupu factor emerged.” Petrache had said the UCM would go alone in the poll.
Now, he has confirmed he negotiates with the PSD. “Tomorrow we'll announce a result, I suppose.” Petrache says his party has not had talks with the Moldova Unita party.
In the April 5 parliamentary elections, the PSD gained 3.7% of votes, while the UCM – 2.75%, the electoral threshold being 6%.
