The director of the Public Services Agency (PSA) Vladislav Zara said that multiple attacks have been aimed at the institution by political activists the past three weeks. The situation degenerated and poses major risks to the credibility of the state institution. He noted that these public attacks are unfounded and are mostly statements aimed at misinforming society, being evidently electoral in character, IPN reports.

In a press briefing, Vladislav Zara referred to the “adjustment” of the services provided by the Agency. According to him, a unique calculation methodology for the services provided for the citizens was worked out. This is based on the estimation of costs and the covering of the costs associated with the provision of services and makes the covering of all the costs for providing concessions the Agency’s burden. A number of services are provided free, while the tariffs of some of the services were set under the cost price, the difference being covered with proceeds from the provision of emergency services.

As to the raising of loans by the PSA, Vladislav Zara said the institution took out three loans in 2018-2019 to perform renovation works and to outfit multifunctional centers. He was named director in May 2020.

The director also reacted to the statements about the purchase of blank passports and other identification papers. He noted that the procurement process was organized beforehand, in the course of 2021, due to the specific procedural and technological aspects as the legal procedures can last for six to 12 months. The blank documents were to be purchased in 2019, but then such a decision wasn’t taken. The preparations for procurement were initiated in 2020, but these were delayed owing to the COVID-19 pandemic. If the supplies are used up, the PSA will be unable to fulfill its responsibilities - to issue identification papers and driver’s licenses and to register motor vehicles.
