Prut flood wave moves towards south
The flood wave on the Prut that came from Ukraine caused no damage in the northern settlements, but could affect southern Moldova, Emergencies Service spokeswoman Liliana Puscasu has told Info-Prim Neo.
The Prut water level in Ungheni, Hancesti, Leova and Cantemir fell by 2-4 centimeters. In the Costesti-Stanca reservoir, the level of water rose by 16 centimeters and the releases were increased from 180 to 480 cubic meters per second.
The water level in Slobozia Mare, Caslita-Prut, and Giurgiulesti increased by 3-4 centimeters, while in Vadul lui Isac and the Giurgiulesti customs decreased by 3-5 centimeters.
The danger of floods persists in Cantemir district. A new levee was built yesterday in the center of Tiganca village, not far from the school. It is 20 meters long, 12 meters wide and 2 meters high.
A number of villages in Cantemir district, including Tiganca, Gotesti, Gheltosu, and Stoianovca, are threatened by landslides. The vehicles cannot be involved in levee reinforcement works as the earth falls in as a result of vibrations, Liliana Puscasu said.
