The Government of Moldova authorized the initiation of negotiations on the draft air transport agreement with the competent authorities of Switzerland, IPN reports.

Minister of Transport and Road Infrastructure Iurie Chirinciuc said the signing of such a document will enable to extend the list of destinations to which passengers can get from the Chisinau International Airport.

According to unofficial reports, about 17,000 flights from Moldova to cities in Switzerland were operated during the past year, but all through connections. The number of passengers is expected to be much larger if a direct flight is provided. It is projected that direct flights to Switzerland will be available two-three times a week.
