Protocol on contact points on Moldovan-Ukrainian border signed in Kyiv

The Ministry of the Interior’s delegation that forms part of the Moldovan governmental delegation to Kyiv, led by Prime Minister Pavel Filip, on February 13 signed a protocol on contact points on the Moldovan-Ukrainian border between the Border Police Department of the Ministry of the Interior of Moldova and the Administration of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, IPN reports.

In a press release, the Ministry of the Interior says the signing of the protocol is stipulated in the national plan of action for implementing the Association Agreement between Moldova and the European Union. This envisions the creation of contact points on the Moldovan-Ukrainian state border that will contribute to the intensification of information exchanges in order to ensure security on the common border, national security, public order and economic welfare of the state, to prevent and fight organized transfrontier crime.

Minister of the Interior Alexandru Jizdan will have a bilateral meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart Arsen Avakov to discuss possibilities of improving bilateral cooperation in the area of internal affairs and of identifying new cooperation opportunities.
