Protests to liquidate ANRE to be held until yearend

The public association “Consumer Protection” asks the Government to liquidate the National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE). The NGO announced that protests will be staged by the end of the year if nothing is done in this respect, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the association’s head Petru Gutul, the legislation enables certain bodies, including the Ministry of Economy, to take over the powers of the ANRE. “The Agency seriously violates the rights of the consumers and ignores the legislation,” Petru Gutul said in a flashmob meeting held in front of the ANRE’s head office. “We want the ANRE to be liquidated as the employees of this institution have salaries of 40,000 lei. When they increase the tariffs, they put the money in their pockets. Instead of paying 10 lei, we pay 100 lei. The Ministry of Economy can fulfill these functions. We do not need intermediaries,” said Vasile Sagin, one of the protesters. Attending the flashmob meeting, the chairman of the Social Democratic Party Victor Selin said that he came to support those who protest and will discuss with the association’s head so that they unite their forces against the ANRE.
