Protests in Tantareni go on
The protests in Tantareni village have not yet stopped. A group of villagers continue to block the road to the local waste dump so that no garbage truck from Chisinau can get to that place.
Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, vice director of the cleanup facility “Autosalubritate” Victor Serghienko said no truck was sent to Tantareni after January 8 so as not to stir things up. The refuse is taken to a field in Chisinau.
Victor Serghienko considers the protests in Tantareni are exaggerated as the local waste dump is half full and can be exploited for another three years, as the Anenii Noi District Council decided. “Two years ago, the same persons staged similar protests and were fined,” he stated.
The residents of Tantareni started to protest on January 8, barring access to the waste dump. They demand that the dump be stopped up as it is a source of infection.
