Protesters seek meeting with leaders of ruling alliance

The people protesting in the Great National Assembly Square ask to have a meeting with the leaders of the Alliance for European Integration Vlad Filat, Marian Lupu and Mihai Ghimpu at 5pm on September 9. The announcement was made by the spokesman for the Council of the Great National Assembly Vasile Nastase in a news conference held in the central square of Chisinau, IPN reports.

“Mister Plahotniuc, who yesterday said that he is not against holding early parliamentary elections should also attend the meeting,” stated Nastase.

Vasile Nastase called on the population to come to the Great National Assembly Square on Saturday and Sunday to be near the protesters. He said that a very important announcement will be made there at 5pm on September 13, but didn’t provide details. According to him, an evening of the independent media will be held in the Town of Dignity at 9pm on September 11. It will involve top journalists.

The Council’s secretary general Chiril Motpan said the veterans of the law enforcement bodies, who joined in the protest, received information that provocations against the protesters are being prepared. “I want to tell the rulers that we, those who represent the police in this town, will not allow such things,” he stated.

After the news conference, the representatives of the protesters went to the Presidential Office to seek again a meeting with the President, Prime Minister and Head of Parliament.

The people who took part in the protest mounted by the Civic Platform “Dignity and Truth” in the central square of Chisinau on September 6 decided to protest nonstop and set up a town of tents in the square.
