Protesters’ leaders: We are not afraid of criminal cases

The three leaders of the protesters - Renato Usatyi, Igor Dodon and Andrei Nastase – said they are not afraid of the criminal cases with which they are threatened by the government. Such statements were made in the talk show “In Depth” on PRO TV Chisinau channel, IPN reports.

“It is an attempt to intimidate us and to make us give up. Tens of thousands of people protest, but the prosecutor general continues to serve, as the director of the National Anticorruption Center does. We will continue to protest peacefully so as to press the current government to leave,” said the leader of the Party of Socialists Igor Dodon.

The chairman of the “Our Party” Renato Usatyi said they will continue to protest. “What has happened until now is complete anarchy hidden behind the screen of democracy. The people support us. When we blocked the entrance to Chisinau, most of the drivers welcomed us and encouraged us not to yield. They were ready to wait for 48 hours in the cold if only changes were made in this country. The rulers are afraid of us. Mihai Ghimpu refused the post of Speaker. It’s clear that he is scared. Most probably, this post will be held by one of those who defected from the PLDM,” said Usatyi.

Andrei Nastase, the leader of the Platform “Dignity and Truth”, said the protests should be continued. “We have protested for a year, but no concession was made. We are only lied to. The people do not allow me to talk to the rulers any more,” he stated.
