Protesters’ leaders Andrei Nastase, who heads the Platform “Dignity and Truth”, Igor Dodon, the chairman of the Party of Socialists, and Renato Usatyi, the leader of “Our Moldova”, announced that they will not take part in the meeting with Head of Parliament Andrian Candu, which was scheduled for January 29. The three leaders said the answer to the demands formulated in the January 24 protest, were to be provided by January 28, 5pm, in accordance with their ultimatum, IPN reports.
For their part, protesters’ leaders invited Andrian Candu to the Civic Forum scheduled for January 29, which is to decide the actions that will be taken in the immediate future now that the authorities didn’t meet the people’s demands.
“Given that we planned a civic forum for tomorrow, which will involve opinion leaders, representatives of the parliamentary and extraparliamentary opposition, Andrian Candu is invited to this forum to present their solutions so that these are examined together with the whole society,” stated Andrei Nastase.
According to Renato Usatyi, Adrian Candu is to meet with the leaders of the parliamentary alliance this evening. “Andrian Candu told us over the phone that he will meet with the leaders of the parliamentary coalition this evening to finalize the proposals that will be presented to us tomorrow. We are waiting for Andrian Candu at the Civic Forum. If he cannot come to us, he should make public their decision,” he stated.
The ultimatum includes the demand to dissolve Parliament and to call early elections. “We consider it is defiance of the over 100,000 people who came with a very clear position that was stated and voted unanimously in the Great National Assembly Square. If the so-called government had had something to say, they should have said it until now,” said Igor Dodon.
