Several dozen people protested in front of the Prosecutor General’s Office in the afternoon of November 4, demanding that legal action should be immediately taken against the leader of the Democratic Party, who, as interloper Vitalie Proca declared, ordered the murder of businessman German Gorbuntsov, IPN reports.
Ilian Casu, deputy head of “Our Party” that is led by Renato Usatyi addressed the 500 prosecutors of Moldova, saying at least one of them should start a criminal case against Vlad Plahotniuc. The people and the media will keep the pressure constant on prosecutors and a daring prosecutor will ultimately find courage to take such a step.
Political analyst Alexei Tulbure said a prompt reaction and a transparent investigation are required. “We do not want bloodshed. We just want a swift and transparent investigation or those from the Prosecutor General’s Office should resign. We demand a symmetric reaction to Proca’s statement as accusations of human trafficking and organization of assassinations were made against a person who calls himself the “coordinator of government”,” stated Alexei Tulbure, noting that the PGO should investigate all the made accusations and determine if they are substantiated or not.
The protesters said they will continue to protest, but didn’t say when and where.
In an exclusive interview for Jurnal TV broadcast in the evening of November 2, interloper Vitalie Proca, who was sentenced to jail in Romania, said that in 2012 he shot businessman German Gorbuntsov by order of Vlad Plahotniuc, but failed to kill this. “The order was made by Plahotniuc. I don’t know how the rest of the world sees him, but I consider him a career criminal and I know what I say. He found me in a moment when I had financial difficulties. I could not repay a debt and they offered me to do this,” stated Vitalie Proca. After this interview, another person involved in the scheme to organize the murder Valeriu Halupa said Renato Usatyi is actually the one who ordered the murder. In the program Fabrika on Publika TV through Skype, Valeriu Halupa, who said that he is now in Moldova, stated that he was the first to go to the Prospector’s Office and to make statements about this case after he found out from TV reports in what he had been involved. Halupa said his role was to check the addresses in London where the banker stayed. “I told everything as it was. The next day, Ion Druta called me and asked me why I went to the Prosecutor’s Office. He said: I was phoned by Usatyii, the persons who ordered the murder, who are powerful and have weight. And he told me not to worry,” stated Valeriu Halupa.
Several days earlier, on October 31, the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases gave a news conference where there was presented the scheme of the murder attempt on businessman German Gorbuntsov. According to the Prosecutor’s Office, the murder of Gorbuntsov was ordered by the leader of “Our Party” Renato Usatyi, while the executor Vitalie Proca was to later name Vlad Plahotniuc as the one who ordered the murder, in exchange for a sum of money.
