A crowd of people gathered together in the center of Chisinau for the third consecutive day to demand early parliamentary elections. Sympathizers of the Party of Socialists and the Political Party “Our Party” initially came together in front of the Parliament Building, but afterward marched to the Great National Assembly Square to join up with the supporters of the Civic Platform “Dignity and Truth”, IPN reports.
“We demanded that early elections should be held and told them how these can be organized. I call for calm. Let’s protest peacefully. Don’t yield to provocations. We promise to take care of everyone,” the Socialists’ leader Igor Dodon told the crowd.
The head of the “Our Party” Renato Usatyi said he wants the people’s voice to be heard. They must show everyone, including the foreign partners, that the people are not a flock of sheep that can be led by the oligarchs who buy by five TV channels and scare the people.
Andrei Nastase, chairman of the political project “Party Platform “Dignity and Truth”, said he never thought he could stay on the same stage together with Igor Dodon and Renato Usatyi, but all the forces that want democratic early elections should now unite. “The current government is illegal. Only the awakened people is legitimate. We call on the partners to give no money to this criminal government,” he urged.
After over an hour, the protesters set off from the central square of Chisinau to the Constitutional Court to seek an answer to the Socialists’ application concerning the legality of the vote for the Filip Government. Afterward, they will march to the Presidential Office to demand that the head of state abrogate the decree to install the Government and will then go to the public TV channel Moldova 1, which they accuse of manipulating public opinion and of not covering the protests truthfully.
