Inhabitants of Buiucani district Thursday protested in front of the Chisinau City Hall against a building that is to be erected on Alba Iulia St. During the protest, several participants broke the glass of the City Hall’s checkpoint, IPN reports.

Three days ago, deputy mayor Nistor Grozavu made an order to stop the construction works until the dispute with the locals is resolved. Even so, the protests went on. The people demand banning the construction.

In a communiqué, the local authorities inform that they will stage a meeting with the protesters. But they condemn today’s incident, saying the acts of vandalism against a public institution are far beyond the legal limits.
