The people protesting in front of the Chisinau City Hall continuously chanted “Down with dictatorship!”. The supporters of mayor-elect Andrei Nastase said the decision to not validate the mayoral election results is an unprecedented one and the vote of the majority was stolen. The people intend to protest as long as need be, IPN reports.
Virginia Reghiment said she came to protest because her vote was stolen. It is very important that each citizen take part in the protests as the rule of law will be restored if everyone demands to have their rights respected.
Viorica Hasnas stated she took part in all the protests staged last week and this week so as to defend her rights and called on all the people to join in so as to stop dictatorship. “Dear people, this is outrageous. The government should go away until is not too late. They have no pity for the elderly people. These came here with walking sticks and chant “Down with the mafia!” and “In jail!”. They stole our vote and our money. What else can they steal? I think they could drive us away by bulldozers if it was up to them to decide,” said the woman.
Ion Munteanu said the judges took such a decision because they were forced too, being blackmailed with the criminal cases started against them for thefts. Such a method has been applied since the rule of Vladimir Voronin (Communist leader who held office of President of Moldova in 2001-2009, e.n.), who educated generations of bandits who now manage the county.
“We took to the streets because we elected Andrei Nastase and they do not allow him to take up mayoralty. Why should we vote further? They spent a lot of money on elections and now do want they want. Plahotniuc (leader of the PDM, e.n.) makes the people suffer. You should go away as you are a thief,” stated Nina Grecu.
“We should defend our rights so as to feel well in our country and do not have to leave to look for a better life. We should change something. It is impossible to continue like this. We will not concede. We will struggle to obtain results and the thieves should give up,” said Maria Saranceanu.
Petru Josanu said the current government represents Communist dictatorship. He noted he does not remember the elections not being validated in the past. Protests were mounted earlier too, to defend the independence , the Latin scrip and the people succeeded. The people should struggle now too, as the people in other states did.
Valentin Zorila said the power was usurped after the mayoral runoffs and it was practically a coup. Things became more evident now. “We should definitely protest and not only make noise and inconvenience the people, but for a well-defined goal – to return things to normality. It is hard, but we should do it,” he stated.
In the evening of June 25, the Supreme Court of Justice upheld the Appeals Court’s decision to not invalidate the results of the early mayoral elections held recently in Chisinau municipality.
