The Council of the Great National Assembly chosen on September 6 asks the Prime Minister, President and Head of Parliament to have a meeting with the protesters’ Intermediation and Representation Group by the end of today, September 7. A decision to this effect was taken in the Council’s meeting and was made public before the people who gathered in the Great National Assembly Square, IPN reports.
Member of the Civic Platform “Dignity and Truth” Andrei Nastase, who was chosen as head of the Council, told the crowd that they expect the Premier, the Speaker and the President to come to the meeting. “The attempts to have a contact made until now failed as the senior authorities declined out request. The Head of Parliament and the President were absent. We didn’t even know if they were in the country. The Premier also didn’t know this,” he stated.
The crowd chanted in unison “Today”, demanding that the senior administration should come to the central square of Chisinau. Andrei Nastase noted that the demands formulated during the September 6 protest were transmitted to the authorities. If the representatives of the government do not react, the development partners and the embassies working in Chisinau will be asked to become intermediaries.
In the same meeting, Valentin Dolganiuc was named the deputy heads of the Council of the Great National Assembly, while Chiril Motpan – secretary general.
The protest organized by the Civic Platform “Dignity and Truth” in the Great National Assembly on September 6 brought together about 100,000 people, according to the organizers. The participants decided to protest round-the-clock and put up tents in the Square.
