The youth organization of Moldova Noastra Alliance (AMN), the AMN Students Association and the AMN Women organization marched on May 31 in Chisinau to raise the public awareness concerning the situation of those some 50,000 children left home alone, whose parents had to seek jobs abroad. AMN's youths leader Sergiu Baltaga has told Info-Prim Neo the action organized on the eve of the Children's Day wants to draw the public's attention that, during seven years of Communist rule, the number of the children left without parental care has risen alarmingly much. More and more children left alone abandon school. The message is for the Communist rulers demanding them to undertake more actions to improve the situation of those children, he said. The AMN women has said the protest is a cry, a call on the Moldovan women to return home, to be able to take care of their children in quit and peace. “We want a healthy young generation, a clever one to be reliable in the future,” some of them said. The initiative of the AMN youths has been saluted by the Romanian Women Association. They say in a communique they support the Chisinau manifestation and such protests are necessary to be organized in Romania, too, as the situation of children left without parental care shall be paid heed over the Prut, too.
