Protest leaders discuss with EU officials

The leaders of the protesting people Andrei Nastase, Igor Dodon and Renato Usatyi as well as Maia Sandu took part in a discussion organized by the Delegation to the European Union to Moldova. These said that the government continues to lie to the European partners when they it says that it is ready to have a dialogue with the opposition as it actually ignores it, IPN reports.

The leader of the Party of Socialists Igor Dodon after the meeting said he told the European officials that the Socialists submitted all the legislative initiatives deriving from the demands formulated by the Civic Forum to Parliament. “We described three scenarios to them. The first scenario envisions that the oligarchs will do reforms and the partners will give them money, but this will not happen because the oligarchs will not do reforms and will only simulate them. According to the second scenario, the government will simulate the reforms and the EU will close its eyes and will support it, but we warned them that if they do this, the European integration will be fully compromised. The early elections are the third scenario. We want these to take place simultaneously with the direr election of the head of state,” stated the politician.

Renato Usatyi, the head of the Political Party “Our Party”, said the European officials are informed that the current government wants to talk to the opposition, but this does not want to. “We understood that the external partners continue to be lied to as earlier. We told them that reforms will be done only after early legislative elections. Today the government disregards us. We will react in a similar way,” he stated.

The head of the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” Andrei Nastase said the European officials are trying to establish a dialogue between the government and the opposition. “We told them that the dialogue was profaned by those who are in power because they didn’t respond to our calls. Moreover, the attempt to discuss with civil society had two results – the government chose to speak only to NGOs and tried to corrupt these NGOs. They said that the opposition is to blame for the economic crisis and political crisis. They have to only say that the opposition stole the US$1 billion,” he noted.

Maia Sandu, who heads the political project “Action and Solidarity Party” didn’t make statements for the press.
