“Don’t legalize the stolen funds”. This is what members and sympathizers of the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” (PPPDA) and the Party “Action and Solidarity” (PAS) chanted in a protest mounted in front of the Parliament Building. The protest was staged after the parliamentary majority on July 26 adopted a law by which the private individuals are allowed to voluntary declare undeclared property. The protesters warned that by this law the government aims to legalize the funds stolen from the banking system, IPN reports.
PPPDA deputy head Inga Grigoriu said the MPs who yesterday voted the fiscal reform are those who robbed the Moldovan banking system. “We need a free country where the citizens would feel dignified and safe, while the thieves of billions would be jailed,” she stated.
PAS deputy chairman Mihai Popsoi said the EU, through the Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova Peter Michalko, transmitted the message that the law adopted yesterday puts the Moldova – EU Association Agreement in danger. “The relations with the EU have worsened. We see that the government does nothing but intentionally burn the bridges with the EU. And we wonder if we don’t go to the EU, where do we go?” he asked.
“In the Cabinet meeting of July 25, Prime Minister Pavel Filip said they want to do a small fiscal reform, but this is actually a small fiscal robbery. They thought and decided to swifter bring the stolen money at home by the law on fiscal amnesty. This is an evident theft,” stated PAS secretary general Igor Grosu.
The leader of PPPDA Andrei Nastase said the Democrats rule this country by robing the citizens and such a state of affairs can no longer be tolerated. He called on the people to take part in the Great Citizens’ Assembly on August 26 so as to protest against the current government.
