Protest against Islamism will generate negative reactions outside, theologian

A protest against Islamism will generate negative reactions outside, warns Archdeacon Andrei Curaev – a well-known figure of the Russian Orthodox Church, who works in Moldova. Asked by the Balti publication eSP to pronounce on the call of the Bishop of Balti and Falesti Marchel to stage a protest against the legalization of Islamism in Moldova, Andrei Curaev said one cannot protest against a legal juridical decision, Info-Prim Neo reports. “The Moldovans want to get rid of the visa regime and go in large numbers abroad, starting with Portugal up to the Far East. They know that while looking for a better-paid job, they get to foreign homes. How can they then refuse the hospitality of the persons who are in the same situation as they?” asked Andrei Curaev. During a meeting held in Balti on May 9 to celebrate 66 years of the victory against fascism in the Second World War, the Bishop of Balti and Falesti Marchel called on the locals to show patriotism and to protest at the Ministry of Justice’s decision to register Muslim religious organizations. He urged the people to take part in a protest against the legalization of Islamism that is set to take place in Balti on May 18.
